Documentation

Note that each option in the filter got a description that explains what it does or what it’s used for.

Debug

Example on how Debug mode looks like - You're also able to switch to different modes.

The Metallic Basecolor mode shows if a color that is metallic is under 180 sRGB, this only applies to PURE metals and could/should be disregarded for dull metal.

Basecolor Values

  • Affected Values = 3 different modes to choose from, default is that anything that is too dark AND too bright should be adjusted, you’re able to switch so it is only values that are too dark OR too bright.

  • Value Calculation = Set values are to ensure it’s not too dark (Charcoal) or too bright (New snow) However Custom Values allows you to change which value should be “too dark” etc.

  • Value Target = What value the tool should target. Highest Value Target = Any value equal or greater than the target will be fixed. Lowest Value Target = Any value equal or lower than the target will be fixed.

  • Value Fix = What value the tool should replace any targeted value with.

Metallic

  • Pure Metal Basecolor = If the metal you’re working with is a pure metal then the basecolor value shouldn’t be under 180 (sRGB) this option fixes that.

  • Affect Roughness = Essentionally a mask that let’s you turn all 100% metallic into pure roughness - this can also be useful to play around with while changing blendmode in the roughness channel.

  • Mode = Binary is only black and white while Float allows a certain degree of grey.

  • Calculation = Automatic turns any metalness value equal or greater than 0.5 to white and the rest to black. The manual option let’s the user change the target value.

  • Anti Aliasing = Simple option to enable or disable anti aliasing - in most cases it’s recommended to turn it on.

  • Automatic Cleanup = Floods the metalness even more to get rid of some (not all) separate speckles. This only works with the Binary mode.

Blur

A global blur that let’s you switch where it should blur. The intensity got a max value so if you want even more blur you have to add a blur filter on top of the BCM filter.

PBR Cheat Sheet

It’s recommended to CTRL + A the whole text in the text box and paste into notepad (for example) since the text box is really tiny

The PBR cheat sheet contains the values (in linear colorspace) for different materials. The list is created by Iri Shinsoj

This is useful to know what values to use for the basecolor fix incase you want to use custom values.
